The European Commission, DG XI, has published a call for tenders for a study on continuous on-line monitoring systems for nuclear power plant (NPP) components. The study will compare and analyse existing standards and national requirements on continuous monitoring systems for light water reactors (LWRs). In addition, a survey on systems in use or under development will try to establish recommendations for future harmonization. The study shall cover the following three areas: - Identification and comparison of existing international and national codes and standards encompassing rules for design, manufacturing, installation, testing and operation of continuous monitoring systems for LWR components; - Survey on continuous monitoring techniques with potential use for on-line detection and measurement of structural damage of LWR components. The study should induce recommendations for pre-harmonization purposes consistent with actual component requirements; - Survey on continuous monitoring systems in fast reactors (FRs). This portion of the study shall examine methods currently in use or under development, to assess their effectiveness and identify needs for further development. The survey should also generate recommendations for pre-harmonization purposes consistent with actual component requirements. Requests for tender documentation should be sent to: European Commission DG XI Mr. V. Bhardwaj Unit C.2 - Safety of Nuclear Installations 200 rue de la Loi (BU5 3/158) B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2990889; Fax +32-2-2994449. Completed tenders should be sent to the same address.
