Uncorking Europe’s algae bottlenecks

The ATL.A.HUB project aims to diversify Europe’s algae-based products portfolio through knowledge sharing and improved regulation.

Contributing to food security, marine ecosystem health, and carbon sequestration, Europe has high hopes for algae cultivation. But these hopes could be dashed if the significant barriers facing members of the value chain aren’t addressed. Enter ATL.A.HUB a project creating algae networks where stakeholders can share infrastructure, equipment and services within a common-sense regulatory framework. With hubs established at two large algae cultivation and processing facilities in the Canary Islands and Portugal, the approach is accelerating the development of market-ready algae-based products.
