One ocean platform, multiple uses
According to AquaWind, more can be accomplished when resources are shared. That’s why it proposed joining a floating wind farm with an innovative, multi-species fish farm. To achieve such a pairing, the project developed an innovative finfish aquaculture prototype that includes a tailor-made fish cage with novel net materials, a high level of digitalisation to enable remote operation, and species diversification. By demonstrating the economic, environmental and social sustainability of its model, the project has provided a roadmap towards the real-world implementation of multi-use projects.
