A playful way to attract new talent

What better way to get students excited about aquaculture than to make a game of it?

Future-proofing Europe’s aquaculture sector requires inspiring the next generation of workers today and developing their blue skills. Knowing that it’s never too early to start, BlueAquaEdu is using games to introduce the sector to teenagers and university students. The project’s interactive games are designed not only to motivate users to pursue a career in aquaculture, but also to show them how to use cages and recirculating aquaculture system technologies. Other games focus on specific fish species or such sustainability-related issues as post-harvesting value chains and the valorisation of by-products. In addition to the games, the project is working to match students with experienced mentors.
