"Euroabstracts" is published each month by DG XIII of the European Commission. It provides abstracts of Community RTD publications and a review of RTD results, policies and activities. The November 1995 issue of "Euroabstracts" deals with European chronic protein deficiency and the need to improve the quality of domestically produced proteins - one of the important issues identified in a recent Commission report on animal feedstuffs. The work undertaken by the Joint Research Centre to help characterize the problems of radon and quantify the risk to Europe's population is dealt with in an article entitled "Research reveals radon's real danger". In an article entitled "Empowering the elderly and disabled", "Euroabstracts" takes a look at the TIDE (Technology initiative for disabled and elderly people) conference which took place in Paris earlier this year and which assessed the needs and direction of European research in rehabilitation technology. There are also book reviews on "Charting European Maine Data", "State-of-the-Art in Decommissioning", "International Standards for Fast Reactors", "Building Europe's Nervous System" and the "Extremes of Biotechnology". The November 1995 edition includes, moreover, 50 pages of recent Community publications on research, science and technology. These cover a wide range of subjects including: chemistry, earth sciences, engineering and technology, energy, life sciences, materials, mathematics, computers and telecommunications, nuclear science and engineering, and physics.
