The European Commission, DG III, has published an open invitation to tender for a Community-wide executive search for European senior business executives for four Human Resources Training Programmes (HRTP) organized by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation in Tokyo. The training programmes will take place from August to November 1996 and 1997 and from January to March 1997 and 1998. An option for contract extension with regard to recruitment for two further programmes should also be included in the offer. The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is a common venture between the European Union and Japan established in 1987 and confirmed by a European Council Decision of May 1992. Its objective is to contribute to industrial cooperation between the European Union and Japan, notably by organizing management training programmes for senior European business executives. Selection criteria for course candidates include: - EU Member State nationality; - Age 35 years or older; - Minimum of 10 years' professional experience in a key management or specialist position; - Good knowledge of English; - Sponsorship by employer (scholarship possibilities exist for SMEs). Shortlists of 35 suitable candidates and an additional 5 reserve candidates must be submitted to the European Commission at least four full months before courses start (by 1 April 1996/1997 and 1 September 1996/1997). Not more than one-third of the candidates should originate from SMEs. Tenders should include a description of the bidder and his activities showing his competence for guaranteeing punctual and successful Japan-related EU-wide senior executive recruitment in numbers and quality as required above. The Commission further requires information on the bidder's resources and extent of representation in the Member States demonstrating that he is able to assign the necessary qualified staff and infrastructure for Community-wide recruitment.
