The European Commission has published a Decision on the Community's financial contribution to a plant health programme in French overseas departments for 1995. The objective of the programme is to control organisms that are harmful to plant or plant products. The programme is divided into sub-programmes covering each of the following four French overseas departments: - The department of Guadeloupe; - The department of Guyana; - The department of Reunion; - The department of Martinique. Activities in the above regions will involve risk assessment studies, the control of specific harmful organisms, the reinforcing of resources for the Departmental Federation of Crop Protection Groups (FDGDCEC), and other appropriate initiatives. The Community's financial contribution to this programme will be limited to ECU 950,000 for 1995. The total cost of the programme is estimated at ECU 1,674,855. In the event that the predicted overall expenditure is, however, less that the anticipated amount, the Community's contribution will be reduced accordingly.
