The European Commission has announced the nomination of Mr. Robert Verrue to the post of Director-General of DG XIII (Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research); and of Mr. Ramon De Miguel to the post of Director-General of DG XVII (Energy). Mr. Robert Verrue (FR) was formerly Deputy Director-General of DGI - External relations, with responsibility for relations with Central and Eastern Europe, the NIS and other non-member European countries. Mr. Ramon De Miguel (ES) formerly occupied the post of Chef de Cabinet of Commissioner Marcelino Oreja, with responsibility for relations with the European Parliament, institutional questions and the inter-governmental conference, information, culture and audio-visual policy. Both Mr. Verrue and Mr. De Miguel are expected to assume their new positions by the end of the year.
