The European Commission has been notified of the intention to form a joint venture company, Uniworld, between AT&T Pan European Services Inc., and Unisource Pan-European Services BV, a subsidiary of Unisource NV (a joint venture company whose shareholders are Telia AB, PTT Telecom BV, Swiss Telecom and, indirectly, Telefonica de Espana SA). Uniworld will provide seamless pan-European telecommunications services with global connectivity to the European business market. These services will initially include international virtual private network voice services, packet, frame relay and other data services, messaging and network related outsourcing. The Commission has undertaken a preliminary examination of the joint venture under the competition rules of the Treaty and has found that the venture could fall within the scope of Regulation 17. Interested third parties are invited to submit their observations on the proposed operation, to the Commission, by 31 October 1995 at the latest.
