The European Commission, DG XVII, has published a call for tenders for the recruitment of 15 sectoral, intra-muros experts to work within the framework of the THERMIE programme (Community programme for the promotion of energy technology in Europe). The experts to be recruited will be required to provide the programme with support in the following specific areas: - 1. Technology/engineering: . 1.1 Rational use of energy (RUE) in buildings - for interfacing contractors running demonstration projects and for the identification and promotion of potential markets; . 1.2. Urban technology - RUE in buildings - for project follow-up, promotion and dissemination of innovative technology; . 1.3. Industrial technology - projects - for proposal definition, contract management and dissemination of completed project data to the energy industry/fuel-cell sector; . 1.4. Industrial technology - strategist for participation in international working groups, the creation of means of interfacing industry and co-ordination across EU services; . 1.5. Renewable energy sources - state-of-the-art assessment and prioritization of projects to co-ordinate with, and disseminate information to, industry and organizations; . 1.6. Solid fuels - strategy/environment - for the formulation of a work programme based on collaboration with industry and organizations on promoting technology for the reduction of emissions; . 1.7. Solid fuels - new technology - for the identification of the market potential of new initiatives in solid fuel technology in the context of new regulations; . 1.8. Hydrocarbons - for the promotion of EU expertise in oil and gas, especially in favour of small- and medium-sized enterprises; - 2. Finance/contracts: . 2.1. Finance - strategist for the support of EU small/medium enterprises (SMEs) to obtain wider market penetration; . 2.2. Finance - strategist for the socio-economic assessment of the impact of energy technology on EU Member States in areas of competitiveness, environment, employment and regional development; . 2.3. Finance - analyst for the effect of energy policy on international cooperation between Member States and Third Countries, including the socio-economic and environmental impact; - 3. Information management: . 3.1. Contracts control - for the establishment of contracts and budgetary control; . 3.2. Information technology - for the establishment and dissemination of databases in the energy field, both within the organization and on the public network; . 3.3. Public relations - for the management and dissemination of THERMIE information to the media and key political decision-makers as well as for the assistance in the organization of events; . 3.4. Information management - for the definition and coordination of means of disseminating energy technology information and the assessment of its effectiveness. Intra-muros experts are experts working within the buildings of the Commission and acting as an interface between Commission officials and external contractors or organizations. If the tenderer is successful, the duration of the contract will be one year, with a possible extension of up to three years in total.
