A call for tenders concerning the SPRINT European innovation monitoring scheme has resulted in the selection of 53 organizations and individuals with expertise in innovation research. These constitute a pool from which experts will be drawn to carry out work under the scheme. At its meeting of 20 June 1991, the SPRINT Management Committee agreed that possible priority areas for study include the legal and fiscal aspects of inward and outward licensing plus the compilation of a directory of European engineering consultancies. Via extensive Europe-wide surveys, the scheme aims to improve understanding of innovation practice and of the persons and organizations involved in this area. It will also provide a forum for exchange of experience and consultation, particularly with a view to improving the effectiveness of Community innovation policy.
