Developing telematic-based learning services - the role of SME networks
The European Commission, DG XIII (Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research), has published the results of a study carried out under the "Education and Training" sector of the Community's Telematics Applications programme. The study aims to identify the most effective ways of stimulating telematics-based learning services through innovation transfer along SME networks and to encourage a multiplier-effect as telematics-based learning services become established. The study also highlights various other issues which need to be addressed, together with possible ways forward. Specific topics covered include: - The nature and importance of SMEs in Europe; - Training and SMEs in Europe; - Developments in telematics services and use of telematics by SMEs; - Understanding the process of innovation transfer within an SME training context; - SME networks; - Financial mechanisms to support SME training; - Methodology used for collection of data; - Directory of SME networks.
