The European Commission, DG XIII, has launched an open call to tender for a study on the role of telecommunications systems and in particular cellular telephony for elderly people and those with special needs. The study should produce an analysis of the needs of elderly users and users with special needs, in relation to communication services and taking regard of social trends, for example calling for increased mobility. It should recommend how telecommunications, in particular cellular telephony, can aid elderly users and those with special needs. The time limit for completing the study will be four months.
