As part of the 1996 European Year of Lifelong Learning and the European Week for Health and Safety at Work (7-13 October 1996), the European Commission and the International Association for Social Security (AISS) are organizing a competition for education and training products for the prevention of health and safety risks. Products entered in the competition may be specifically for risk prevention training or for more general or professional training. The competition is divided into ten categories of product target groups, as follows: - Initial education: . Primary or secondary school pupils; . Pupils of secondary schools for professional training; . Students in higher education; - Initial and continuing education: . Professionals at all levels concerned with the problems of health and safety (all disciplines); - Continuing education for personnel in the following industries: . Agriculture, fisheries and food; . Mining and construction; . Metallurgy and chemistry; . Transport and energy; . Health professions; . Other groups. Products may be entered in one or more categories. Selection will favour products which are recent and innovative, both in content and methodology. Products should also be transferable across borders and, in the case of the continuing education categories, be applicable to SMEs.
