The European Commission, DG V, has published an invitation to tender concerning a scientific and technical analysis of resources in matters relating to monitoring and controlling transmissible diseases. The call aims to draw up an inventory of these resources and to establish a blueprint for the development of structures and processes to reinforce the capacities and resources in this area within the Community. The inventory would cover: - The organization of monitoring and control structures in each of the 15 Member States; - Training programmes; - Existing contacts or the development of these between specialized institutions; - Actual capacity of the institutions in each of the Member States to investigate endemic or epidemiological phenomena, and their future needs, particularly in view of reinforcing cooperation and coordination in such matters; - Research programmes; - Setting out the sequence of necessary tasks to be carried out in relation to different phases of development of the structures and procedures in this area within the Community based on the above analyses. The inventory must be prepared in the form of a computerized database, allowing for regular updating, on both a paper medium and on CD-ROM. Service providers may not tender for a part of the services only. Tenders may be put forward for one or more successive stages, covering all the abovementioned services in each case. Interested parties can obtain the full set of tender documents from: European Commission DG V - Employment, Industrial Relations and Social Affairs Directorate F/1 Jean Monnet Building L-2920 Luxembourg Tel. +352-430138540; Fax +352-430134511
