Study on Community strategy in the sector of forests
The European Parliament is interested in a study of the present state and trends of the forestry sector in the world, on the national and international policies which influence those trends and on the development of a Community global strategy aimed at safeguarding forests in Member States, as well as tropical forests. The chosen consultant will collect the information necessary for a description and evaluation of the existing situation, trends and policies from material published by different sources. Alternatively, the consultant will approach international organisations, government authorities, processing industries, producer's cooperatives, research institutes, consultants, private corporations, etc. The study will consist of two main parts: Forestry and forestry policy within the EEC; tropical forests and Community policy. The former must be completed (final report) 8 months after the award of the tender.
