At the proposal of Mr. Padraig Flynn, Commissioner responsible for social affairs and employment, the Commission has approved a Single Programming Document which provides for continued funding, from the European Social Fund (ESF), to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for the period 1996-1999. This brings total ESF funding for the period 1994-1999 up to ECU 2.35 million, 38% of the total budget allocated to the Luxembourg programme. The funds are intended to facilitate the adaptation of the workforce to technological developments. Three priority areas are identified: - Anticipation of market trends in work and in qualifications; - Improvement of training and advisory services; - Horizontal actions.
