Call for actions for persons with Alzheimer's disease
The European Commission has published a call for proposals for actions in favour of persons with Alzheimer's disease, as well as their nursing personnel. The Commission is inviting the submission of financial aid applications for projects of a limited period. The projects to be supported should aim at promoting the diffusion of best practice and innovative approaches, the encouragement and support with information and experience exchanges, and training. Owing to the complex nature of the phenomenon under consideration, especially as regards diagnosis, more broadly, proposals covering the neurodegenerative diseases will be examined. The areas to be covered by this call will include (indicative list only): - Data collection and surveys, analyses and strategies, especially with regard to the distinction between Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases; - Prevention, including: information campaigns, health education and promotion, promotion of training for health personnel and informal nursing personnel, early diagnosis and screening; - Studies and exchanges of experiences in care and support measures for families and other nursing personnel; - Diffusion of best practice and encouragement to the establishment of support structures. Actions must be transnational (involving the participation of actors in at least two Member States and introducing Community added-value. A budget of ECU 2.5 million will be available for the 1996 budgetary year.
