The European Commission, DG VII, has published an invitation to tender for an assessment of European pipelines networks, in the context of the trans-European transport networks. The tender is for an assessment of the pipelines networks, their integration into the trans-European transport network, and their use for transport of various goods and, in particular, dangerous goods. The aim is threefold: - To provide a complete overview of the existing and planned continental European infrastructure of pipelines used for, or intended for, the transport of various goods (excluding gas pipelines), both private and public-owned ones, as well as data on their use; - To examine the possibility of incorporating the pipelines into the trans-European transport network (excluding gas pipelines); - To examine possibilities of promoting pipeline transport in general and present practice and future possibilities of using pipelines (excluding gas pipelines) for the transport of dangerous goods in particular.
