A practical guide for urban sustainability
There is a lack of integrated evaluation procedures and standardised data concerning water/sewage, waste, transport, energy networks, green areas and holistic urban studies. Consequently it is difficult to evaluate the benefits of a project, its full socio-economic impact and how it might be transferred elsewhere. This discovery was the result of fifty case studies from thirteen EU countries. Thus, as a way to promote sustainable development, PETUS has designed and tested practical evaluation tools (including decision-making and public participation processes) to produce and oversee urban infrastructure projects. The PETUS handbook is a means to bring these practical evaluation tools forth in a practical manner. The handbook consists of an introduction to PETUS and its concept as well as information and background of the case studies and a brief analysis of the tools. It also contains information regarding decision-making, EU legislation, a glossary and a list of PETUS partners and end users.
