Educational services for active learning
The interaction engine has been designed to offer services in three different contexts. These include the personal area (workspace), the course area and the activities area. In regard to the personal area it offers a unified vision of each service. It also provides content for the user to access as well as the different courses in which the user is enrolled and the contributions performed in them. The course area on the other hand, provides the required services for each course, whether they were specified by the author at the time of design or by the tutor at run time. The activity area, respectively, is like the course area but within the ambit of an activity inside the course. The services the interaction engine provides include forums, file storage, calendar, notifications, comments, ratings and information about learning objects. Additionally it offers the tutor administration functions for each of the services it provides. It will be especially useful in educational institutions desiring to use the respective courses and to include adaptation in the learning process.
