Agriculture and agro-industry (AIR): Response to first call for proposals
A total of 762 proposals, involving some 4,600 participating organizations, were received in the first call for proposals for the specific programme for RTD and demonstration in the field of agriculture and agro-industry including fisheries (AIR programme, 1990-1994). Overall funding sought by these projects amounts to ECU 1,006.7 million. 534 applications refer to two or more of the four AAIR action lines, and can therefore be classified as integrated proposals. Response by area was as follows: - Primary production in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture (450 proposals); - Inputs to primary production (to crops, silviculture, animal production, equipment and monitoring, aquaculture and fishery) (469 proposals); - Processing of biological material in the food or non-food sector, including energy (336 proposals); - End use and products (including non-food demonstration projects) (309 proposals). The evaluation process is currently under way and selection results are to be published in May 1992.
