5th European Health Forum Gastein: "Common Challenges for Health & Care"
SUBJECT AND OBJECTIVES,In addressing common challenges and opportunities for health services and public health, the 5th European Health Forum Gastein 2002 will > create the opportunity to debate the key contemporary health issues in Europe by directly meeting with the leading players. > explore in particular: ,- Challenges and opportunities as health systems in an enlarged Europe are increasingly interacting with particular emphasis on cross-border movements of patients;,- What policy approaches at the national and EU level are necessary for achieving and sustaining quality goals?,- How health inequalities in countries and between countries can be reduced, and cycles of health inequalities can be broken?,- Progress towards a comprehensive and coherent food and health policy for the European Union and the wider European Region;,- How public health research under the 6th EU Research Framework Programme can support Community Policies? > identify the role of health care, health systems and public health in planning for future demographic, technological, public health and societal demands over the next 20 years; > review, and facilitate learning about ways in which health across public and private sectors is being developed and implemented at local, regional, national, EU and supra- national levels and the balance of investment between health care and public health; > discuss the working programmes of the EU, the Member States, Accession Countries and the regions for the further development of European health policy, and in particular facilitate learning about the development and implementation of the EUs actions in the health sector. The EHFG shall also produce the Gastein Health Declaration 2002 which will be addressed at national and European institutions and policy-makers and shall initiate its implementation in the course of further advising on European policy development and implementation.
