Media Briefing: Sustainable Production: Nanotechnologies Lead the Way
Building on the highly successful briefing held in at the MINATEC Centre in Grenoble in June, the European Commission will organise a follow-up, targeted briefing which will focus on the key role of micro and nanotechnologies in sustainable production. Organised at one of Europes key centres of excellence for micro and nanotechnologies, the Technical University of Denmark, this event will bring together leading EU experts from research and industry on novel approaches to sustainable production. It will take place in the presence of European Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin and Helge Sander, Danish Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. This technical briefing aims at providing the press with the latest state of play on how nanotechnologies are revolutionising sustainable production - two tightly interrelated areas where Europe is building world leadership. It will offer a comprehensive picture of specific challenges and opportunities for scientists, entrepreneurs and investors, as well as for citizens. This special media briefing will comprise a series of presentations by EU scientists, industry leaders, and policy makers, to be followed by questions and answers sessions. It will also include visits to two cutting-edge laboratories showcasing innovative approaches to production processes based on recent advances in nanomanufacturing, and exciting commercial applications. These will illustrate new organisation strategies and new forms of partnerships between the public and private sectors which are needed to drive the sustainable production revolution. Ample interview opportunities will also be provided.,For further information, please contact: Patrick Vittet-Philippe, Press Officer, DG Research, European Commission,Tel: +32.2.2969056 fax: +32.2.2958220,Email: patrick.vittet-philippe@cec.eu.int For this event, the EC is assisted by a subcontractor, Hill and Knowlton. ,If you want to attend this media briefing, please register with Ana Aguilar Morell, ,Tel: +32.2.7379514 fax: +32.2.7379501,E-mail: aaguilar@hillandknowlton.com,
