The European Commission, DG XXIII, has published a call for proposals relating to the organization of international buyers' exhibitions (IBEX). As part of the third multiannual programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the European Union, and in response to a request made by the Council, the Commission wishes to encourage and support IBEX exhibitions with a view to promoting relations between main contractors and subcontractors. Within this context, the Commission is planning to co-finance IBEX exhibitions in certain sectors, in accordance with the priorities of the third multiannual SME programme. Financial support may be granted up to a maximum of 25% of the total cost, subject to a ceiling of ECU 100,000. This ceiling may be raised to ECU 150,000 if co-financing is provided under other Community policies. This call for proposals relates to IBEX exhibitions due to be held in the second half of 1998 or the first half of 1999. Interested parties are invited to send a written request for the relevant application form and the tender specifications which describe the content and method of proposals and the conditions applying to their submission. Requests for the form and specifications should be sent to: European Commission DG XXIII - Enterprise policy, distributive trades and tourism Unit B/3 - Strengthening competitiveness and promotion of subcontracting 200 rue de la Loi (AN80 4/28) B-1049 Brussels
