Multitel at the railway exhibition SIFER05

Multitel, Belgian Research Centre in Image Processing, Networking, Optics & Telecom, Speech & Signal Processing will participate to SIFER05 (booth 188) to present a series of prototypes developed in its own laboratories.

Focused on the railway sector safety, these prototypes are related to the following fields: A) Safe odometry multi-sensors techniques which enables to obtain a most reliable safe positioning in real time through combining information coming from various sensors; B) Intelligent VideoSurveillance which enables to detect e.g. dangerous situations visible on the screen, thanks to software automatically analysing a video image; C) Multimodal Man-Machine Interfaces which deal with natural language, transformed into a signal and which can, for example, produce automatic announcement in railway stations; D) The traceability and protection of physical and digital objects which consist in the protected association of information to objects in order to allow their authentication, their tracing to, e.g. localize the cause of manufacturing errors. , ,Multitel is also a member of EURNEX European network of excellence, aiming at integrating research in the European railway sector in order to improve the competitiveness and economic stability of the railway industry in accordance with the SSRA recommendations (research agenda for the European railway sector).
