EUROESTIBA - Operational Training in Commercial Ports
For this reason the Sociedad Estatal de Estiba y Desestiba del Puerto de Valencia-SEVASA (Valencian Port Dockers Company) has presented Euroestiba project, which is included in Leonardo da Vinci’s programme. The overall aim of Euroestiba is to create opportunities of training in the port sector. Euroestiba wants to develop a training model for European port services. This model unifies port workers profile. In this manner, the project improves the quality of continuing vocational training. Therefore, Euroestiba will create new training courses, adjusted to the changes in the port sector. Moreover, the project develops a training handbook for trainers. Thanks to this guide, this training could be easily transferred to another European ports. The project introduces some innovations: • The approach was local up to now, and now it will be European. • Training courses respond to the need for identifying an existing worker profile. • Pilot experience will structure and organise port positions because it will create new profiles in this sector. • Courses have new subjects and categories. Euroestiba, leaded by Sociedad Estatal de Estiba y Desestiba del Puerto de Valencia-SEVASA (Valencian Port Dockers Company), has the following partners: FEPORTS (Fundación Instituto Portuario de Estudios y Cooperación), Livorno Port (Italy), Marsella Port Authority (France), Regional Development Centre Koper (Slovenia), Ente Público de los Puertos del Estado (Spanish Ports Company) and Fundación Comunidad Valenciana-Región Europea. The Fundación Comunidad Valenciana-Región Europea is a non-profit foundation and strengthens the participation of the Valencian Region in the European Union’s policies and actions. It also promotes a better knowledge of these actions and policies. The objective of the Foundation is to promote the participation of all the sectors present in the Valencian Region in the European Union’s policies and to promote a better knowledge of these policies.
