Integrated information system »Slovenia Your Cooperation Partner« - Your Companion in Discovering Slovenia
It presents Slovenia as a modern, knowledge-based and development-oriented information society and economically successful EU member state. The integrated information system SYCP upgrades its more sector-oriented, but internationally appreciated predecessors named »Find Your R&D Partner in Slovenia« (2001), and »Slovenia - Your R&D and Business Partner« (2002). Information distributed through the website www.rtd.si and 15,000 CDs, has drawn Slovenia and its research-developmental potential to the attention of numerous institutions and individuals across Europe and beyond, who had not previously thought about cooperation with Slovenia. This in turn led to the successful participation of the country in the 5th and the 6th Framework programmes for research and technological development in the EU in the period 2001-2005. The third generation of the integrated information system SYCP, which is unparalleled in terms of its wealth and variety of on-line information on Slovenia’s policies, institutions, economic activity and its people, offers transparent, systematic and comprehensive information to a wide range of potential user needs. Through links to related information on the web, it enables establishment of numerous strategic partnerships. The system SYCP consists of 15.000 copies of DVDs, including promotional posters titled “Slovenia – Country of Excellence” depicting innovative achievements and beauties of Slovenia, and systematically updated web application www.rtd.si/sycp. The new integrated information system SYCP is divided into four clusters: “Discover Slovenia”, “Policy/Institutional Framework”, "Targeted Active Partner Search” and "Integrated Services & Multimedia". It offers possibilities for cooperation with Slovenia in numerous policy areas, such as education, research & technological development and innovations, manufacturing & business, entrepreneurship, foreign direct investments (FDI), judiciary, public administration, public safety, services, employment, regional development, foreign affairs and EU matters, as well as on specific thematic areas such as agriculture, forestry, biodiversity, environment, spatial planning, energy, transport, information society, culture & art, heritage, health, sport & recreation, tourism etc. The information system SYCP represents the first integrated, interlinked system in the EU presenting national policies, institutions, activities, programmes, development guidelines, line strategies, benchmarking and international cooperation activities. It covers 28 activity areas, with multi-levelled links between active targeted partner searches and logically upgraded additional sector information in the policy-institutional framework. Thus, we are convinced that this information system, presenting Slovenia as a EU member state with the vision to achieve the Lisbon goals, economic competitiveness, environmental sustainability and social stability, has the potential to become the modern information exchange benchmark in Europe. The project actively involved all line ministries and governmental offices, Slovenia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Craft and a number of specialised agencies. This enabled the integration of more than 20 databases, as well as numerous information systems and web services. The system also contains a wide selection of multimedia content (62 videos, more than 6 hours of Slovene traditional and authentic music in different music genres, 120 panoramic views etc.), links to more than 500 Slovenian web portals in English, approximately 400 presentations of important Slovenian institutions and a virtual ‘site-seeing’ tour of 180 locations in Slovenia that are of historic, archaeological, architectural or social importance. These include both the most famous tourist destinations, as well as less well-known, but equally outstanding landmarks, which illustrate the cultural and natural diversity that the country has to offer. The information provided includes facts and figures on Slovenia’s regions, along with historic and cartographic information. Together, all this information gives an all-encompassing portrait of Slovenia, and we are proud to bestow to the wider public this ambitious information system, of which no other European country can pride itself upon, all the more since we have created it by immense willingness to make sacrifices, engagement, and lots of innovations. The Integrated information system SYCP did not take long to become, undoubtedly, the central media presenting Slovenia’s strengths and potential to the broadest public, with special emphasis on research, technological and business offers. It stresses the nationally important cooperation forms concordant with the Developmental Strategy of Slovenia and its priorities. The SYCP system facilitates international linkages and enhances international cooperation based on sound economic foundations, competitiveness and social stability, and thus represents a concrete step by Slovenia towards reaching the goals of Lisbon strategy. We firmly believe that this kind of promotion contributes substantially to the international reputation of Slovenia and its economic, business, developmental and innovation success. Moreover, it is believed that governmental support for the regularly updating the SYCP system will ensure the presentation of a variety of information about Slovenia before the country takes over the presidency of the EU at the start of 2008. The official presentation of the information system SYCP, co-organised by a group of Slovenian MEPs, SBRA and the Permanent representation of Slovenia to the EU, is taking place in the »Yehudi Menuhin« Hall of the European parliament in Brussels on 11 January 2006. At the moment, when »European Research Area« is becoming a reality and the 7th Framework Programme of the EU is to be launched, we offer to researchers, entrepreneurs and all people of goodwill a powerful tool to create reliable partnerships with Slovenia in 28 different activity areas. We believe that our product with 15,000 copies of the DVD and regularly updated Internet-based information is an important step towards strengthening existing and creating new links between Slovenia, the EU and other countries in the world. We invite you to exploit this tool productively, and to benefit from it.
