A restricted invitation to tender issued by the Commission of the European Community on behalf of the Joint Research Centre, Ispra, concerns the provision, in one or more lots, of a very high-performance informatic system for scientific calculation and image processing/synthesis at high definition. The primary application of the system is to analyse images which are related to holography, real-time x-ray images and satellite images at high resolution. Secondly, the system will permit the implementation of advanced softwares in the domain of three dimensional image synthesis, of real colour holographic synthesis, in particular by means of neutral and genetic algorithms. It will also be employed for the simulation of systolic and/or genetic architectures. Total cost will include the purchase of a basic system which must be scalable and able to evolve towards important configurations. High capacity peripheral storage devices and very high resolution visualization systems will be required. The system must be in conformity with European informatic regulations, and in particular with UNIX system V. Particular attention will be given to tenders offering collaboration and/or joint development with the JRC Ispra Establishment. Applications for inclusion in the restricted call should be submitted to: Commission of the European Communities Joint Research Centre, DG XII Contracts Unit I-21020 Ispra Tel. +39-332-789126; Fax +39-332-789925
