The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has published an invitation to tender concerning a study on earth observation in Europe. This study will have the objective of providing an industry and market "snapshot" for 1998, in order to help the Centre for Earth Observation (CEO) programme maintain its understanding of the industry. The study will consist of: - Updating information on 1990 to 1997 revenues, industrial structures, and the overall understanding of the status of earth observation market development; - Validating and, where necessary, improving on previously reported (1990-1994) figures and conclusions; - Building a market forecast for the next five years (1998-2003); - Applying all of this data in analysing and discussing major issues, such as the major structural and market changes and the impact of the CEO programme. The work should be completed by 30 November 1998. The Commission intends to update the study in 2001, and may call upon the successful tenderer to complete this work. Tenders should therefore include an option for the 2001 study as a stand-alone proposal. Tender documents may be obtained from: European Commission Joint Research Centre Mr. P.
