A series of seminars on information security will be held throughout the United Kingdom from October to November 1998. The first will be held in Salford on 20 October 1998, followed by seminars in Glasgow on 10 November 1998, Cardiff on 18 November 1998, Gatwick on 26 November 1998 and Birmingham on 8 December 1998.

The aim of these seminars is to help organisations towards effective information security management controls and the eventual implementation of the accredited British Standard 7799 on information security. Participants will be guided through the major issues concerning the security of business information, and will see the stages of preparation required for effective information security management and for accreditation to the BS 7799 scheme. The implications and benefits for business will also be highlighted.

The presentations to be delivered during the seminars will include:

- Why BS 7799?
- Critical success factors;
- Best practice and audit;
- The certification process.
