COORDINATION '99, the third international conference on coordination models and languages will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from 26 to 28 April 1999. It will be organised within the framework of the COORDINATION project, funded under the EU's RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT). The conference will build on the success of previous events held in 1996 and 1997 and will continue to provide a forum for researchers interested in theoretical models, languages, and implementation techniques for coordination.

Research in this area has focused on the emergence of a class of coordination models and languages which aim to address problems with software systems which have been developed through a long period of time and have become extremely difficult to understand and to maintain. The research aims to find software solutions for making large applications manageable by providing a clean separation between individual software components and their interaction within the overall software organisation. This separation makes large applications more tractable, supports global analysis and enhances the reuse of software.

The conference organisers are currently seeking the submission of papers for presentation during the conference. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Theoretical models and foundations for coordination;
- Specification, refinement, and analysis of software architectures;
- Coordination, architectural, and interface definition languages;
- Agent-oriented languages;
- Dynamic software architectures;
- Tools and environments for the development of coordinated applications;
- Industrial relevance of coordination and software architectures.
