A European Week for Business will take place during 4-8 October 1993. The central theme of the week, which is organized by DG XXIII of the Commission of the European Communities, and involves the Euro Info Centres, BC-NET and the Business Cooperation Centre (BRE) is "Small Businesses: The Dynamic Force Within The Single Market".

A number of events are scheduled to take place in each of the Member States. These include seminars, workshops, fairs and demonstrations on an extensive range of business topics. Each is described in a catalogue issued by DG XXIII, classified by country, region and city. Details are given in all the official languages of the Community, together with the necessary contact information, so that full information can be found easily.

The key organizations around which the Week for Business is structured are:

- Euro Info Centres: Specially set up for small and medium-sized businesses, the Euro Info Centres are fully equipped to obtain accurate information on Community matters as rapidly as possible for enterprises wishing to do business in Europe. EICs are connected to each other (more than 200 EICs operate in the Member States) and to the Commission via an electronic data network.

- BC-NET: The Business Cooperation Network consists of a computerized network of some 600 consultants in the public and private sectors across Europe and worldwide. Particularly targeted to aid businesses wishing to find partners in Europe, BC-NET is experienced in giving support at all stages of a particular project: assessment, partner search, initial contact, follow-up, etc. The needs of each particular business are compared with those of thousands of others who are actively seeking partners via BC-NET. The network allows potential partners to be identified swiftly and confidentially.

- BRE: For enterprises wishing to improve their competitiveness, the Business Cooperation Centre has been created to aid in the search for partners beyond the national frontiers. BRE handles cooperation opportunities on a non-confidential basis. It operates, with cooperation offers and requests, through a network of professional correspondents, but may also be accessed directly by businesses. The network covers all the Member States, plus Japan, Canada, China, the United States, India, Brazil, etc.: More than 50 countries in all.
