The EU-funded PSx2 ('Participatory science and scientific participation: The role of civil society organisations in decision-making about novel developments in biotechnologies') project will hold its final conference in Brussels, Belgium, on 13 November.

PSx2 is a project that explores the participatory role of civil society organisations (CSOs) in new scientific and technological developments, with particular reference to experiences in the development of agricultural biotechnology (genetically modified plants, food and feeds).

The project is now close to completion and the project consortium is organising this conference in order to discuss the project results with representatives of civil society, scientific, and political organisations.

The event will include presentations on the topic of participation in science by representatives of CRIIGEN ('Comité de Recherche et d'Information Indépendantes sur le génie Genétique') and GeneWatch UK, a not-for-profit group.

CSO representatives, European Commission officials and scientists will be invited to present their reactions, and there will be room for general discussion at the end of each section. For further information, please visit:
