SusChem ('The European technology platform for sustainable chemistry') is organising a Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) project brokerage event in Brussels, Belgium, on 11 December.

The event will cover recent FP7 project calls announced in the 'Nanosciences, nanotechnologies, materials and new production technologies' (NMP) area. It will feature an update on the status of SusChem and its future perspectives. The European Commission will present the NMP 2009 work programme and give some early insights into the 2010 programme.

Specific FP7 NMP call topics that will be presented include:
- oxide materials for electronics applications;
- light high-performance composites;
- innovative pathways for sustainable chemical production;
- development of nanotechnology-based systems for molecular diagnostics and imaging;
- reducing the environmental footprint of energy intensive industries;
- nanobiotechnology: applying life science principles as a model for new nanotechnology-based mechanisms, processes, devices and/or systems;
- nanotechnology for harvesting energy via photovoltaic technologies;
- molecular factory: manufacturing objects with predictable and controllable properties;
- nano-structured materials based on graphene;
- biomimetic gels and polymers for tissue repair;
- novel membranes for water technologies;
- new biomass-based composite materials and their processing;
- best practices to lower the barriers for commercialisation of nanotechnology research;
- exposure scenarios to nanoparticles.

The brokerage event is designed for representatives from European companies, universities, technology centres and research institutes active in chemistry and related material sciences, coordinators of FP7 projects, and other research and development (R&D) networks and platforms.For further information, please visit:
