The Academia Europaea, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to scientific discussion, will hold a workshop on causality as a basic concept in science on 22 and 23 May in Venice, Italy.

After workshops on the concepts of symmetry and complexity, the workshop on causality is the third in the event series 'Basic ideas in science'.

Causality has always been an essential concept in theory and research. After an introduction and interdisciplinary survey of the topic, causality will be considered from different points of view in such areas as philosophy, physics, engineering science, chemistry, life science, brain research, economics, social sciences and law.

Participation is by invitation only and will be restricted to thirty delegates. To be considered, potential participants should email the lead organiser with a request as soon as possible.For further information, please visit:
