A conference entitled 'Complex disease genetics for clinicians' will take place from 24 to 25 January 2013 in Hinxton, UK.

Complex diseases are defined as diseases that are ultimately determined by a number of genetic and environmental factors. Although there are many technologies and strategies that can be used to detect genetic factors influencing complex diseases, these technologies and strategies have inherent limitations.

In the last decade, this field has seen the development of molecular genetic technologies. The application of this technology is reflected in the multitude of research projects that can now be found in scientific journals. Unfortunately, most common diseases are sufficiently complex to push the current array of molecular genetic analysis strategies to their limits.

Targeting practicing clinicians, this workshop will serve as an introduction to the field of complex disease genetics. Recent progress, with the likes of genome-wide association studies, new biological insights and next-generation sequencing technology, will also be discussed. For further information, please visit: http://registration.hinxton.wellcome.ac.uk/display_info.asp?id=309
