A new exhibition aimed at forging research partnerships, Technology Transfer '97, will take place in Birmingham, England, from 13 to 15 May 1997. It is sponsored by the UK Department of Trade and Industry and the Confederation of British Industry.

While many small companies recognize the need to innovate, they do not always have the necessary research capacity to carry out R&D activities on their own. At the same time, many larger companies, university departments and government bodies are willing to offer their facilities and expertise to outside partners. The exhibition will therefore bring these two sides together to forge new partnerships for innovation.

In addition, banks, venture capitalists and enterprise groups will provide access to financial support, while a wide range of experts (legal advisers, patent agents, management consultants and training bodies) will offer advice on the implications of joint ventures.
