Life Science Applications '98, an international professional "forum" on the applications of biotechnology in health care, food and agriculture, will take place in Gent, Belgium, from 26 to 29 April 1998.

Planned to provide a new type of information forum for the biotechnology sector, LSA'98 will include interactive workshops, a seminar programme of international scope, a forum for the exchange of ideas and the development of commercial partnerships, and an exhibition area displaying the latest products and technologies. It is intended to attract both creators and users of biotechnology, promoting interaction between the scientists who develop the technology, the companies which commercialize it and the businesses and professionals who use it.

Specific sectors to be highlighted during the event will include:

- Medical and pharmaceutical products and techniques;
- Fermentation techniques;
- Agronomy and livestock;
- Environment;
- Business and finance;
- Services.
