CIM-Europe Annual Conference

CIM-Europe (the dissemination activity of ESPRIT CIME) held its eighth Annual Conference in Birmingham, England on 27-29 May 1992. The programme offered considerable variety with presentation sessions, workshops, technical visits, an exhibition and social events.
More than 50 technical papers were presented in the three parallel session streams. Session subjects covered all aspects of CIME (Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering) and included Open Systems, Concurrent Engineering, Quality management and Robot calibration. In keeping with the conference theme of "Applications and Benefits" there were sessions on exploitation and technology transfer.
There was a small commercial exhibition plus a display of posters showing some of the results achieved by ESPRIT CIME research projects.
Keynote speakers came from the large European manufacturing companies and were joined by leading international experts.
This year's conference attracted 250 delegates from twenty-two countries. Apart from Europe (CEC, EFTA and Eastern Europe) delegates came from Australia, Canada, China, Japan and USA.
The event was jointly organized by the UK Department of Trade and Industry and the Commission of the European Communities. The proceedings are published by Springer Verlag.
The next CIM-Europe Annual Conference will be held in May 1993 at the RAI in Amsterdam.
