Industrial cooperation between the EU and Asia
The two seminars, aimed at managers in EU companies with strong interests in developing business links with Asia, will be as follows:
- Market and Product Strategy: 6 to 16 July 1998;
- Meet Asia in Japan: 9 to 19 November 1998.
The first seminar, on "Market and product strategy", aims to analyse various ways in which Japanese firms develop innovative ideas into marketable products. It will involve a series of lectures presented by speakers from Japanese industry, universities and the European Commission's Delegation in Tokyo. The second half of the seminar will consist of visits to research organizations and companies, followed by a round-up and panel discussions.
The second seminar, on "Meeting Asia in Japan", aims to increase the effectiveness of European industry in their efforts to penetrate into Asian markets. The seminar will be composed of a series of case studies, meetings with representatives of Asian industry and site visits to companies. This seminar will cover the following subjects:
- General economic, industrial, cultural and socio-political background;
- Characteristics of regional economies;
- The role of governments;
- Intra-regional relationships;
- Asian cultures and multi-cultural team building.
