Online Discussion Forum for Sustainable e-Europe

As part of the EU's policy to consult with relevant stakeholders, Sustain IT (opens in new window) are conducting an online forum for the European Commission's Enterprise DG (opens in new window) after the conference "Sustainable e-Europe"(opens in new window) held on 22nd May 2003 in London.

27 May 2003 - 6 June 2003

We would like to invite you and your colleagues or members to contribute to the forum which will be running for two weeks starting Tuesday 27th May 2003. With YOUR HELP, we hope to investigate the results of recent and on-going initiatives, and extract concrete recommendations aiming at specific policies at the European level, and more concretely on the enterprise and corporate dimension and other policy implications.
At the Gothenburg Summit in June 2001, EU Leaders adopted a European Union Strategy for Sustainable Development. Their decision adds a third dimension - the environment - to the twin social and economic pillars they had identified at the Lisbon European Council in March 2000 as key factors in the creation of an internationally competitive and socially inclusive European Union.
In line with this, the EU Strategy for Sustainable Development is based on the idea that in the longer run economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection must go hand in hand. This entails a process in which a wide variety of actors, including European and national policy makers, the business community and civil society, bear a shared responsibility.
You can find the forum via the Sustain IT website - http://www.sustainit.org(opens in new window) or go straight to the forum at http://www.greentalk.net(opens in new window)
