International symposium at the Biomedicum Helsinki in August 21-23, 2003

The seminar 'Ethics in Biomedical Research' offers a unique opportunity to everyone working in the field to consider and to evaluate the arousing ethical issues around biomedical research. The speakers are world-class scientists in ethics and biomedicine. The seminar is highly recommended to students in biomedicine, related biosciences and nursing sciences as well as senior scientists, Finnish ethicists, physicians and research nurses.
The core of the seminar consists of four panel discussions between biomedical researchers and bioethicists: 1) Biomedical research as part of society 2) Vulnerable groups as research objects 3) Use of genetic information and 4) Stem cells, embryos and cloning - ethical borders. Keynote lectures given by the members of the International Association of Bioethics will precede each discussion.
