The first conference of the Association of Geographic Information Laboratories in Europe (AGILE) will be held in Enschede, The Netherlands, from 23 to 25 April 1998. AGILE was formed in 1997 to represent the European geographic information research community in discussions with other bodies at European level. Its aim is to establish links with bodies such as the European Commission and other associations.

- Aspects of interoperability.

The conference will also include a young researchers' forum, offering them an opportunity to present their research. In addition, evening discussion groups will cover the following topics:

- International Geographical Information Systems (GIS) issues;
- Multimedia and GIS;
- Data structure for 3D vector maps;
- Observation theory and spatial data;
- Dynamic modelling;
