SAM'98 - International seminar on Seasonal Adjustment Methods

An international seminar on Seasonal Adjustment Methods will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from 22 to 24 October 1998. The seminar is organized by EUROSTAT, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.

The seminar will act as a forum where statisticians - from national statistical offices, central banks, academia, and other areas - will see presentations of developments in both traditional and model-based methods of statistical analysis, with the aim of comparing the different techniques.

The main themes to be covered by the seminar will include:

- Progress in the theoretical field;
- Evaluation of available software tools and methods;
- Enhancement of old, and development of new, packages;
- Problems associated with seasonal adjustment in public statistics;
- Presentation of software for seasonal adjustment;
- Training in seasonal adjustment;
- Other connected domains, including outlier detection, forecast, turning point detection, cycle-trend decomposition and ethics in seasonal adjustment.
