Business Intelligence Conference under the VERITE thematic network

Fundacion LEIA CDT and the Research Unit URENIO have the pleasure to invite speakers and attendants for the Conference of the European Thematic Network VERITE on Business Intelligence: "For Intelligent Organizations: methods and tools of Business Intelligence".

The conference will take place on 16 October 2003 in Vitoria, Basque Country (Spain).
With todays technological advances and uncertainty in the business economy, a fast pace of change sets in with new business demands and an ever-increasing amount of data that results in information overload. Agility is the key for businesses to cope with these new challenges and delivering the right information to the right people at the right time is critical, yet, the ability to make right decisions becomes much harder. The role of Business Intelligence takes center stage here. BI enables an organization to achieve sustainable competitive edge by supplying the critical information required to make informed business decisions towards meeting business objectives.
This conference is geared towards helping people to understand the potentials of BI for the organizations and how to take business intelligence initiatives one step further.
The main themes of the conference, on which the papers will focus, are:
Session A: Management and Organization of the Business Intelligence practice.,Focus of this session will be to examine systems of information and how to star with a BI process as well as the contribution of BI to product and process innovation.
Session B: Information technologies in the service of the Business Intelligence.,This is the core Session and it will give specific tools and techniques for BI. We would like to hear about Data Mining, Web Mining, Internet as information source, Text Mining or Information Visualization.
Session C: State of Technology Watch in Spain.,This Session comprises a series of successful experiences in BI in Spain.
Session D: Business Intelligence and policy.,This last Session will find government and regional policies for the implementation of BI, trying to answer the question: What should regional or national organisations do to help firms improve their BI performance?
