The Seventh Nordic Symposium on Trace Elements in Human Health and Disease will be held in Espoo, Finland, from 16 to 19 June 1999. The symposium is organized by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health and the National Public Health Institute of Finland.

The aim of the symposium is to share the most recent information on the relationship between trace elements and health. The scientific topics of the symposium will include the extent and patterns of exposure to trace elements and the associated health risks. The following topics will be covered:

- Occupational and environmental exposure;
- Analytical exposure;
- Metabolism, kinetics and modelling;
- Biological monitoring and the reference values;
- Dietary requirements;
- Toxicology;
- Trace elements and the risk of chronic disease.
