Marketing Scientific Results and Services

A one day training workshop organised by TII and EARTO taking place on Friday 19 September 2003 at the Sweden House, 3 rue du Luxembourg, B-1000 BRUSSELS, from 9.30 am to 5 pm.

COST: 300 for TII and EARTO members; 400 for non-members. The fee includes lunch, refreshments, workshop materials and a copy of the book "Marketing scientific results & services: a toolkit" co-authored by the workshop trainer, Judy Marcure. ,The stand alone price of this reference publication is $99.
OBJECTIVE: ,One of the tasks of staff working at the interface between science and industry is to identify and leverage competitive research and technology strengths that translate into benefits valued by industry. This one-day workshop will help participants to find and capture new business opportunities and develop durable and mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing clients.
TARGET AUDIENCE: ,The workshop is designed for business development, technology transfer, research and research support staff in R&D laboratories, technology centres, universities, knowledge-based companies and innovation agencies.,It is suitable for people with no marketing background, as well as for people with a good grasp of marketing fundamentals who wish to apply them specifically to the needs and constraints of research and technology-based organisations.
CONTENT:,Learn how to make more of your marketing investment in a globalising R&D environment; among other new skills and insights, you will:
- Understand how marketing principles can be profitably applied to R&D and knowledge-based organisations;,- Learn from the successes of R&D marketers in Australia, the US and Europe;,- Learn how to use technology benefit analysis and industry and consumer insights to improve planning and reduce the risk of technology market failures;,- Understand how to analyse national and international markets for new business opportunities;,- Understand how to apply competitor analysis to differentiate your organisation;,- Learn how to help knowledgeable research staff speak more convincingly to business decision makers and investors.
The workshop offers a balanced mix of marketing theory and practical work in groups.
TRAINER: ,The one-day workshop is conducted byJudy Marcure, Director of Calibre Communications. Judy is an experienced workshop facilitator for R&D organisations and associations of innovation management and technology transfer professionals. She has a Master's degree in marketing, with a focus on research and technology marketing, as well as a Master's in the history and philosophy of science. Her professional experience has led her to work with R&D laboratories and universities across 4 continents and to assist clients in industrial sectors such as food, IT, packaging and transport to plan for success. Judy is founding editor of R&D Enterprise: Asia Pacific, a prestigious international journal on innovation and technology management and co-author, with Bruce Davies, of Marketing scientific results and services: a toolkit.
ORGANISERS: ,- Founded in 1984, TII is one of the leading European associations representing the technology transfer and innovation-support professions. It has 300 members in over 30 countries who are active in areas such as business and technology consultancy and start up support, research-industry technology transfer, including spin-off creation, and the provision of infrastructure to foster innovation, in particular high-tech incubators.
- EARTO is the trade association of Europes specialised research and technology organisations.
