Effective Negotiations

Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe offers a training course on Effective Negotiations in cooperation with EARMA. The event will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 5-6 April 2004.

Negotiations are one of the most important parts of the day-to-day business of managers and administrators in terms of setting up cooperations, getting funding and supporting research & development and other projects. The effective negotiation skills course is based on the Harvard strategy and delivers the theoretical background for successful negotiations with colleagues as well as with partners in different organisations.
The aims of the course are to gain more confidence when negotiating in English, widen your range of negotiation techniques, practise interest based negotiations and learn how to handle difficult situations more effectively.
Topics of the course are ,- Planning and preparation ,- Avoiding the position trap ,- Dealing with issues, not personalities ,- Seeking win/win outcomes ,- Using objective facts and standards ,- Dealing with difficult situations and people ,- Raising intercultural awareness.

Date: 5-6 April 2004 ,Course fee: 850,00 EUR. The fee includes a one-year EARMA-membership worth 100 EURO. EARMA members pay only 750 EURO. ,Venue: Renaissance Karlsruhe Hotel, 76131 Karlsruhe, Mendelssohnplatz
The course fee includes handouts, beverages and lunches. Participants are asked to pay the hotel bill on their own (70,00 EUR per night - bed/breakfast and garage).
Course tutors: ,Ken Taylor comes from London and is a long-experienced trainer. He has lived for longer periods in South East Asia, Scandinavia, Germany and Africa where he has worked as a teacher-trainer, training manager and company director as well as a management consultant and trainer. His previous employers and clients include companies from a wide range of industries as well as state and non-governmental organisations. He is the co-author of The Vital Link, a web based self-learning material for business people who work internationally.
Rudolf Woeste is Division Head of In-house Training at Forschungszentrums training centre. He also is well experienced in delivering management training courses to an international audience. He lived in England for a longer period and his long experience is based on different jobs in education, personnel and management development in a R&D-environment.
