First Workshop on "Modern Trends in Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry"

The Training Centre (FTU) of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe organises a workshop on Modern Trends in Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry. The event will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 16 to 18 June 2004.

16 June 2004 - 18 June 2004
Germany
This workshop provides participants with an overview of the present state and future trends of Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry as a key technique in radioanalytics and environmental monitoring. In addition, it will provide a forum for radioanalysts to discuss their most recent findings both as short oral and poster contributions. The workshop may be combined with the subsequent training course on Quality Management in Nuclear Analytical Techniques.
The event is implemented in close co-operation with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flüssigszintillation (DGFS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Topics of the workshop are,- Advances in Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry,- Fast Methods for Field Analysis of Natural Radionuclides,- In-situ Techniques with Mobile Instruments, Instrumentation,- Alpha/Beta-Pulse Shape Discrimination (Case Study),- Application of LSC in Radiation Protection,- Laboratory Exercises: , Quench Correction Techniques, Optimisation of Alpha/Beta-Pulse Shape Discrimination, Radon in Air and Water, Radium Enrichment by RAD Disk Filters, Uranium by Extractive Scintillators,- Modern Trends in Sample Preparation,- Extraction Chromatographic Methods for Sample Preparation,- LS Techniques for Decommissioning of Nuclear Installations,- Low Level Counting Using LS,- Radium Measurements by LS. Experiences and Quality Assurance, Uncertainty Budget in LS
